'Seven by Seven' is the last track and so needs attention drawn to it. It starts out with a kind of guitar flourish or fanfare (which repeats later in the song). The chorus is a bit of a chant, and greatly boosted by Bada Song's additional and enthusiastic vocals. The lyrics are a little esoteric and seem to describe slightly psychotic episodes 'faces in my garden', 'animals ... screaming in the dark' etc. But the chorus is about belief, patience, faith and waiting, using the 'Seven by Seven' and 'Never Saying Never' motifs. So it could be about the way that, in some dark and strange mad and difficult parts of our lives, we yet know, deep down, that someone and something is waiting for us in the future, on the other side. I have to once agin be very grateful to Marcus Cormack who came up with a wonderfully sensitive, atmospheric drum pulse to perfectly suit the sentiments of the song. This, in turn inspired the high and holy-soundiing synth sounds.
lyrics
Seven by Seven
When First I Came To You
There Were Faces In My Garden
Birds Flying, Animals,
Screaming In The Dark
Now Neighbours And Distant Friends
All Shoulder Me And Say Don’t Fret
How Come Our Innocence
Attracts Like A Magnet
Seven By Seven I’ll Wait For You
Never Saying Never
No Less Will Do
What Have I Done
To Deserve The Way I’m Feeling
Never Knowing Where To Turn
Burning In My Head
Seven By Seven I’ll Wait For You
Never Saying Never
No Less Will Do
